West Gosford Shopping Centre Reimagined
Clever Design Aligned to Community and Retailer Needs

D+R Architects were thrilled to be entrusted with the refurbishment of the West Gosford Shopping Centre.

A project that required clever design and expert planning to overcome 5 key challenges:

  1. Coles supermarket was out of oversized for the complex and therefore out of proportion for community needs.
  2. The Coles tenancy was isolated from the rest of the retail shops. Which created a retail flow disconnect.
  3. The existing car park layout was inefficient, creating headaches and hazards for motorists.
  4. Pedestrian access and flow created difficulties for the community.
  5. The first floor had underutilised office space that no longer served the needs of the community, nor the centre.
Design Solution

The clever design solution reimagined the space to meet the demands of the community visiting the shopping centre.

Unused retail stores were demolished to free up space for more car parking. This resulted in 3 benefits for the community:

  1. Easy car park access
  2. Increased parking spaces
  3. Improved traffic flow

 

The underutlised first floor office space was completely revitalised. A childcare centre was introduced into the space. Which added a family-friendly service to the centre.

Final Perspective

The result. A cohesive and functional retail destination. Which catered for the needs of both the community and retailers.

Ultimately, West Gosford Shopping Centre will remain an important local retail hub for years to come.

A New Development Near Western Sydney Airport
Bringing Retail Convenience to Bringelly
Located along Old Northern Road, near the upcoming Western Sydney Airport, is a fresh new retail development. Designed and planned, from the ground up. Once vacant farmland, this greenfield site is now home to a new BP petrol filling station and Carl’s Junior fast food outlet. Designed to serve the growing community needs and airport traffic. With the challenge of a newly widened road to accommodate the future airport. The design and planning of this retail destination needed to seamlessly integrate access points for both motorists and pedestrians. The final design and layout ensured smooth traffic flow, and adequate car parking spaces. Maximised for shopper convenience.
Final Perspective
This modern development represents not just a stop on the way. But a destination in itself. A perfect example where clever design meets functionality. And keeps Western Sydney fuelled and fed.

OAK FLATS DEVELOPMENT

Oak Flats Mixed-Use Hub

Located at the bustling Oak Flats railway station.

The architectural challenge was to design and plan a prominent mixed-use development that reflected both functionality and community spirit.

This four-storey project consists of a ground-floor gymnasium and café. A first-floor childcare centre. And two levels of commercial office space above.
And what would life be without being able to conveniently grab and coffee. A ground-floor coffee shop was a community imperative. Offering an essential food and beverage service to locals and commuters alike.

The final design and plan met two key challenges laid out in the brief. Design around a newly relocated storm water. As well as planning additional parking.

D+R were also required to liaise with the appointed building contractor. Which helped to reduce the Development Manager’s pressure and worry in managing this project.

Final Perspective

Positioned nearby existing railway parking, the development brings convenience and vibrancy to Oak Flats.

Creating a mixed-use retail hub where the community, commuters and workers will thrive.
